About Me
About Jason Edmonds
Los Angeles-based creative, and lifelong student of the process, Jason Edmonds has spent his career quietly making ripples from behind the curtain. His path has been anything but linear, starting with a major-label artist deal in 2000, followed by a decade of collaboration with artists like Whitney Houston, JoJo, Tank, and Boyz II Men. During these years, Jason toured globally singing backgrounds, being a featured artist in 90's RnB trio, 'After 7', and tour managing for marquis artists. These experiences would lay the foundation for Jason's passion for production--seeing things come to life.
His time in the music industry has never been just about accolades, it'd been about curiosity and trying to absorb every layer of the work: the stage, the studio, the strategy, and most recently--the technology. That understanding would become foundational in yet the next chapter of his life.
In 2024, Jason was honored with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, a moment of personal reflection more than public recognition. That same year, After 7 received an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy and Humanitarianism, in tribute to his father, the late Melvin Edmonds, a figure whose influence remains woven into every project that bears the family name.
Today, Jason continues to evolve his focus, drawing from his past while building toward something future-facing. His work in music and technology, particularly through ventures like Omnis Player and Music Maven, reflects a curiosity that doesn’t settle. He’s co-managed artists like Lalah Hathaway and Macy Gray, while helping guide digital innovation in talent development. He also serves in leadership roles within nonprofit and education spaces, including Whole Systems Learning and i-Inspire, where his attention turns toward social equity and communications strategy.
But perhaps the clearest signal of where he’s headed now lies within his newest chapter: Edmonds Creative, a parent brand designed to house not just projects, but philosophies. A current more than a company, EC functions as the connective tissue for Jason’s creative work, from the public-facing EQAUTR Music, the authoring of 4 books on the music business, the soulful resonance of The EQ'd, 12 Hertz, and the poetic tribute of the M.E. brand, to the words he continues to shape through songwriting and visual storytelling.
None of this has been about domination or visibility. If anything, the journey has been a quiet excavation, searching for better ways to say what most people leave unsaid. The brands under EC reflect that same energy. They’re subtle, but not passive. Bold, but never loud.
Jason credits his grace under pressure to the steady presence of his family, his faith in God, and the ability to stay grounded while still reaching for something higher. For him, the work is never final. It’s just what’s next.
